Our last devotional we discussed out Jesus is wrapped in God’s love. I cannot write about life without talking about Jesus. Jesus and life are intertwined; they are tied together. We cannot have life without Jesus. He is a requirement.
I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.– Jesus (John 14:6)
It’s difficult to put into words what “life” is, but we can use scriptures to describe the life that Jesus offers us.
First, is the fact that we have eternal life through Jesus. Our last verse of the day discusses this as well. God loved the world that He gave Jesus so that we could have eternal life.
What is eternal life?
John 17:3 defines eternal life as knowing our only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He sent. Our eternal life begins as soon as Jesus Christ becomes our Lord. We are given access to the Kingdom of God and will forever live there.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 also describes abundance.
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him. But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and show us God’s deep secrets.
I don’t know about you, but to me that sounds pretty incredibly awesome.
The eternal life Jesus gives us, is also an abundant one (John 10:10b). It’s not a life of survival, but a life of thriving. It is one where we are able to live full of love, joy, peace, etc. You can see a list of things our lives is filled with when we live in abundance in Galatians 5:22-23.
Verse of the Day
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 1 John 4:9
Father, you gave me life. The enemy came to steal and destroy my life, but Jesus came into my life to give me an abundant and eternal life. May the River of Life that flows from Your throne inundate my entire being bringing life to all dead things, revealing the depth and reality of the abundance that we have when we live in You.
