Throughout my life I had ups and downs. You’ve had those, right? I hope (pun intended) it’s not just me.
Anyway, I’ve had ups and downs; peaks and valleys. Yesterday I shared about the season in my life I felt hopelessness. That was the first time, in my life, that I ever felt the despair and devastation of hopelessness. I had never realized how intertwined hope is to faith and love. Both questioning God’s existence and God’s loving embrace opened my eyes to how vital faith and love is to living a life filled with hope.
In Romans 15:13 Paul writes that
Our Father is a God of hope.
and in 1 Peter 1:3 Peter writes that
Jesus is our living hope.
True hope, the hope that fills us with all joy and peace, can only be found in Jesus Christ. Jesus is our LIVING HOPE because Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today. Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the love of God on the Earth and it is in Him alone that we find hope.
Hope is wrapped in His love.
Verse of the Day
And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!Romans 5:5 (tPt)
Prayer of the Day
(based on Romans 15:13)
Father, You are my inspiration and fountain of hope because you are the God of hope. As I trust in You, may you fill me so that I may overflow with uncontainable joy and perfect peace. May the Holy Spirit continually surround my life with Your superabundance until I radiate with hope. In the name of my living hope, Jesus Christ. Amen.
